September 2, 2008 by ithinkthereforeib
A couple of articles that I came across in the New York Times yesterday looked rather ToK-ish. You could issue them for reflection in your journals.
Article No. 1:
Vogue’s Fashion Photos Spark Debate in India
Is this right? What do you think?
Should chemotherapy be used while a person is pregnant? Is it necessary to abort the child? What does science say, what ethics?
I also have a couple of articles from last year that you might find interesting for a journal entry. (Actually, I have more, but not to overload you…)
In South Africa, Chinese People Are Reclassified as Black
The above is a link to an article on an intriguing reclassification that illustrates how race is cultural, rather than natural category. So Chinese people are now “black”.
And below: an interesting scientific article… reminding us of all the uncertain areas in the sciences.
Growing a finger… or not….?
Two interesting articles for you to peruse…. scientific progress and some ToK-minded scientists critically questioning the progress.
Finger Miracle
Finger Miracle questioned by critical thinkers (most definitely ToK students once upon a time!)
