Elves 101 and Other Topics

A number of articles you mind find interesting:
Since we have been talking about belief and superstition in relation to the “Darwin’s God” article, this piece onĀ Elf Detection 101 struck me as rather intriguing.
I also came across “Tag, You’re It“, which reminded me of the G-Block presentation on “The Human Circus”.
And finally, a piece that is not for the faint-hearted, dealing with “The Castration of Sex Offenders”, but that is worth a read for those of you who can stomach it, simply because the article points to one of those immensely complex issues that are part of our human reality but that we would rather not think about.

I read the article on the elves and at first i found it really funny because i have always thought elves to be kind of cartoonish! However, in Ireland a 54% of people believe they exsist.. WOW!!!!
Then I just thought about religious beliefs and seriously what is the difference between an elf, and el arca de Noe?(i have no idea what this is in english)
They are both so unplausible for the reality we live in ]=… however none make more sense or have “more proof”in their favor so my question is: if we are hard wired to believe in something, what determines what we believe in? Is it where we are born (Ireland: elves), or is it cultural or or or or what?!?!
hey… I read all three articles and all i have to say is:
Elves: Wow! thats so cool! I guess saint patricks day is really something special there hahaha
Also, its kinda like this show I saw on tv.. really random tv show actually, but the mother of the family believe the tree in her backyard had little “beings” that guided her family’s life… kinda creepy watching her sit n talk to the tree outside and pray to him… n stuff..
Tag one: Guess It doesnt shock me as much cus it was sommething similar to what my mom told me when she learned bout facebook… said she did not wanna find old 80’s pics of her floating around f.book…
Castration: UM OUCH!… but yeah I agree that it is a good method of keeping people that are otherwise normal (i mean they only have weird mental attraction to children n sex n stuff like that) but if they were able to control this… then they could live better lives and perhaps … since this mental thing is not something they control… they’d become something important.. its just a problem they have to overcome!
