…yes, I’m posting this because I think you should watch non-Hollywood, non-mainstream cinema.
It using some interesting cinematographic techniques, e.g. a blurry image for a part of the film, close-range (rather than wide-shot) image, both to give the viewer an experience of what the protagonist perceived after his stroke. These techniques are unsettling, but ever more powerful because of that.
…sorry, I am not know why the post comes out strange like this. Just click the “Download” link and it will take you to the film’s homepage.

Hey, how cool! This is it!!! I am so eager to either watch the film or read the book! =)
I got the film from a “Videocentro” – if you have one of those close-by you could probably ask for it. They might have it, or be able to get hold of it.
I saw it already, as I told you today…. I thought it was a really good movie, I don’t want to say amazing or anything of the sort to avoid creating really high expectations to those how haven’t seen them… it’s always better to expect it to be worse than it is…
Anyways I though it was a very good movie and even if I have not read the book I am guessing it is one of those works that is better to see in a film than to read on a book. It has happened to me several times that the even if both the book and the film are sad, becuase the book is much slower I cry so much that I really can’t continue reading..
After watching the film, it’s difficult to describe how I felt. I felt joyful for having more ways to experience the world other than an eye, at the same time I felt incredibly mournful. I felt sad not exactly for the man but for what he taugh us through his work.
It made me realize how we or at least many of us are so attached to things that can be lost in the blink of an eye, to things that in the end, are meaningless.
It made me realize how many times we forget to value what really matters…
Finally, the whole metaphor of the title was also significant to me. It reminded me of that butterfly that represents our memories and our imagination that can go beyond any barriers of the material world. It made me realize how a diving bell can limit the capacity of our body but it can never limit the freedom of our mind.
For those who haven’t seen it, you should, it’s worth it!
